Coal 2017, the 2017 Coal Operators' Conference, was held on 8-10 February 2017 at the University of Wollongong, Australia.

The Coal Operators' Conference has been held at the University of Wollongong since 1998. The Conference is organised by the Mining Engineering Group of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, University of Wollongong and is supported by the Illawarra Branch of The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy AusIMMM and the Mine Managers Association of Australia.

The Conference addressed issues related to various aspects of modern coal mining operations, both surface and underground and offered the opportunity for industry experts to share advice and insights in this area.

The City of Wollongong is located just 80km south of Sydney on a spectacular stretch of the southern New South Wales coast.  The City's natural environment includes some of the most pristine beaches in Australia and the escarpment to the west offers a great network of walking trails and dazzling views of the coastline.

Coal 2018 is scheduled for 7-9 February 2018. More information regarding this event will be provided in the coming months.  We hope you can join us.
